July and August are themed SUMMER FUN!

☺☺We can't believe it's already summer! July and August are SUMMER FUN themed here at STA. We have lots of fun activities and toys in our classrooms to go along with this!

Our Tree Room has a carnival and beach feel to it.

 A sand sensory table for the kids to play with. Filled with ocean animals!

 A lemonade and ice cream stand. Our kiddos can practice, turn taking, role reversal, and requesting!

 A drawing + bug smacking station!

 A carnival bean bag toss!

And a fun imaginary center set up, complete with floaties, life jackets, fishing and a swimming pool!

Our Sun Room is themed CAMPING and WILDERNESS.

 An area where the kids can play together and have a picnic.

 Lots of fun, summer themed crafts for the kids to do.

A camping area set up! Complete with a tent, fake fire, and camping chairs!

Finally, our Rainbow Room is set up with a gardening theme.

 The children can pretend to move the lawn.

We have another fun tactile bin filled with flowers, shovels and pots.



We hope that everyone has a fun summer and that everyone gets to enjoy the beautiful weather

June is COMMUNITY HELPERS AND SAFETY month!

For the month of June our theme is COMMUNITY HELPERS AND SAFETY! We have lots of community helper themed toys, activities and games in all of our classrooms.

We have a house set up that is "on fire"! The kiddos can dress up as firefighters and help put out the fire.

Fire bowling! The kids can knock down some fire pins.

We have a tactile bin set up where the kids can play in the beans and work on some letter recognition at the same time!

There are lots of community helper themed crafts for the children to do including a garbage truck, chef, teeth/toothbrush and making your own stethoscope.

We have a construction corner set up, where the kiddos can work on building anything their imaginations can think up!

There is a post office area too!

The kids can work on knowing the difference between  safe strangers/community helpers and strangers.

We have a mock doctor's office set up too! Here the kids can work on their pretend play skills, while also practicing the steps of going to the doctor.

Also, this month our shape is a HEXAGON and our color is BLACK. We look forward to teaching these concepts this month!

Farm Fun at STA

Last week we had lots of fun learning all about farm animals!

We set up a sensory bin filled with chocolate pudding! The kids had lots of fun making a mess with pigs in the pudding.

To keep with the theme of messy pigs, we also did a pig in the mud craft. The kids were able to practice their cutting and gluing skills and then got to finger paint with some brown paint!

During group, we encouraged some peer play with one of our fun farm sets!

The kids were also able to practice some of their matching skills with some fun pig shape and number matching.

May is animal month at STA!!

Throughout the month of May will be focusing on ANIMALS!! Our classrooms are filled with animal themed toys, games, and activities.

One of our classrooms has been decorated with OCEAN ANIMALS!

 We have jelly fish hanging from the ceiling and fun images of sea animals on the walls.

 Children can dress up in a life jacket and flip flops and pretend to splash in the ocean.

They can go fishing!!

 Giant beading with rope and foam beads. The children can learn about colors, counting and patterning and work on beading!!

We also have a new classroom FISH!! It's a robot fish that wakes up when you tap on the glass! The kids can help to pick a name out for our class pet!

 

 We have a classroom set up as a FARM. Lots of fun farm animals and figurines for pretend play.

There is a fun sorting game set up. The children can sort animals where they live by putting animals on appropriate home (i.e., forest, farm, house) .

Children can play "Pin the Tail on the Donkey".

There is also a zoo hospital set up! Along with an animal adoption center and of course our very own zoo!!

 It's a monkey hanging from the ceiling!!

Spring is here!!!

Spring is officially here!! Throughout the month of April we will be focusing on Spring!! Over spring break we were hard at work getting the classrooms "Springified" and we have lots of fun themed activities, toys and games.

 Get dressed up and pretend to jump in puddles!! Meanwhile, working on dressing skills (i.e., orienting a jacket, buttoning, etc.) as well as gross motor skills (i.e., coordination, balance, etc.).

 Then the children can play in the "pond" with the ducks and frogs! Identifying colors, counting, labeling, and playing.

 We have a bird house center set up where the kiddos can paint and decorate their very own wooden bird house and hang it up in our STA garden or take it home.

 Coloring and drawing activity!!

 Lots of ready to go spring themed crafts. Adaptable for all abilities.

 Easter themed tactile table filled with play grass, plastic eggs, buckets and shovels. The kiddos can dress up like a bunny and search for Easter eggs. The eggs are filled with all different surprises.

 Build with blocks, choose a fun toy or game, or take a seat and read a book.

 Playground and Little People!! A great activity that always has children playing together around the table.

Dice Game. Take turns rolling the dice and act out the action. "EVERBODY, LET'S JUMP LIKE A FROG!!!!".

 Bug Tactile Table. Children can dig and pour the grass/ green rice and look for or hide bugs.

 This is a topic board used to promote communication.

 Sidewalk chalk activity!! Draw with chalk.

 Get dressed up as a bird and play!!

 Children can play at the garden center and take turns being the customer and a cashier.

 Go for a little picnic.

 Choose the color and how many to make a flower arrangement!

 Feed the bunny while working on numeracy skills.

 Spring Play-doh!!
